Julie strives to create a safe, welcoming space where people feel genuinely heard, understood and supported to move towards the life they want. Julie is currently accepting referrals for infants, children, adolescents, adults, couples and families.

Julie Henderson is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker who provides warm, compassionate and evidence-informed therapy to infants, children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. Drawing on more than twenty years of experience across counselling, family services, mental health and social work, Julie supports people through life’s challenges with empathy, curiosity and genuine care.She is a values-oriented therapist with particular interests in trauma, attachment, perinatal and infant mental health, parenting, child and adolescent wellbeing, anxiety, emotional regulation, relationship difficulties and the lasting impact of adverse life experiences. She believes that understanding a person’s story—their relationships, life experiences and strengths—is fundamental to creating meaningful and lasting change.

Working from a trauma-informed, attachment-focused and strengths-based perspective, Julie tailors therapy to each individual’s needs. She integrates evidence-based approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing and attachment-informed interventions. She has also undertaken advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based therapy for trauma and other psychological difficulties.

For couples and relationship work, Julie draws on the Gottman Method, helping partners navigate conflict, communication difficulties, trust repair and relationship transitions.

Julie’s professional experience spans infant mental health, perinatal wellbeing, child development, family relationships and adult mental health. She has worked extensively with individuals, couples, families and therapeutic groups, helping people navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, parenting challenges, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, life transitions and complex family experiences.
