Telehealth Neuroaffirming Therapy
At our practice, we offer telehealth therapy grounded in neurodiversity-affirming principles. This means we don’t view autism or other forms of neurodivergence as problems to fix. Instead, we work alongside you and respect your lived experience, value your ways of being, and adapt our support to fit you.
What Does Neuroaffirming Mean?
The term neuroaffirming (or neurodiversity-affirming) describes an approach that respects and values neurological differences, such as autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and more, as natural variations of the human mind, not deficits that need to be “fixed.”
Instead of trying to make people appear more “typical” or fit into narrow expectations, neuroaffirming therapy works to:
- Respect how you naturally think, feel, communicate, and relate
- Create a safe space for you to be your authentic self
- Acknowledge and validate your lived experience
- Support your own goals, not impose neurotypical ones
- Understand and adapt to your sensory, communication, and processing needs
In other words, neuroaffirming care is about working with you, not changing who you are. It recognises that many of the struggles neurodivergent people face are the result of external barriers, such as misunderstanding, inflexible systems, or social stigma, and not something “wrong” inside the person.

What Can Neuroaffirming Therapy Support?
You don’t have to be in crisis or meet any criteria to access therapy. People come to us for support with all kinds of things, including:

Neuroaffirming therapy doesn’t mean you need to talk about autism or ADHD all the time. It means we work in a way that understands and respects how your brain works, even when we’re supporting you with things that affect everyone.
How Neuroaffirming Therapy Works With Other Approaches
Neuroaffirming practice isn’t a type of therapy on its own. It’s a framework that shapes how we deliver therapy, whatever the approach. Whether we’re drawing from CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy), or other modalities, the difference lies in how we use them.
In neuroaffirming therapy:

For example, we might modify how we do cognitive work in CBT to allow for non-linear thinking, or adjust pacing and language in DBT.
