With more than 32 years of experience in educational settings and private practice, I provide psychological assessment and counselling for children, adolescents, their families and adults facing a wide range of emotional, behavioural, developmental, and learning challenges.
I am a registered psychologist holding a Master of Education (Counselling Psychology), am a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and an accredited member of the International Association of Applied Neuroscience (IAAN).
Children and Adolescents
My aim is simple: to help children and young people better understand themselves, build on their strengths, and develop the confidence and skills needed to thrive. Every child has a unique story. Behaviour is often a way of communicating thoughts, feelings, needs, or challenges that may be difficult to express in words.
I believe meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship. By creating a safe, respectful, and engaging environment, I help children feel understood, valued, and supported. Where appropriate, I work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and other health professionals to develop a comprehensive understanding of each child’s needs and strengths.
I have experience working with neurodiverse children and adolescents and recognise, respect their unique individuality, focusing on how to assist them to navigate a variety of settings using their strengths. Â My approach recognises and respects each child’s developmental stage, individual differences, and personal strengths. Therapy is tailored to meet children where they are, helping them develop practical strategies that support emotional wellbeing, resilience, and self-confidence.
I draw upon a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches that are developmentally appropriate including modified CBT, Narrative, and Solution Focussed Brief Therapy. Â For younger children, sand tray work and symbolic play can provide a powerful way to express feelings and experiences that may be difficult to communicate verbally.
I work with children and young people experiencing mood disorders, selective mutism attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) problematic gaming and technology use.
I provide cognitive and ability assessments, to assist educational programming for students with diverse leaning and behaviour support needs which help identify strengths, clarify areas of difficulty, and guide appropriate intervention and support.
Therapy is not simply about solving problems. It is about helping children and young people discover their strengths, develop self-awareness, and build a lasting sense of confidence and personal agency.
Together, we work towards meaningful and practical outcomes that support growth at home, at school, and in everyday life.
If you are concerned about your child’s emotional wellbeing, behaviour, learning, or development, I welcome the opportunity to discuss how I can help.
Adults
I offer a wide range of therapies, always with a warm relational approach. I work with clinical disorders including insomnia and trauma related issues providing evidence-based treatment programs using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and (CBT-i), Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). While the choice of therapeutic modality is an important consideration, effective outcomes develop within the framework of a quality therapeutic relationship, which is my primary focus and at the core of my practice.
Many clients do not have a clinical issue, and choose to take a more explorative, narrative approach, looking to deepen their insight into the patterns and relationships in their lives.
 Couples
My work with couples is grounded in a warm, relational, and strengthbased, solutionfocused approach. I support partners to understand and respond effectively to communication challenges, conflict resolution and a range of issues underlying and influencing their assumptions, beliefs and interactions.
I cultivate a collaborative therapeutic alliance with both partners, keeping the relationship itself at the centre of our work together. My practice is informed by interpersonal neurobiology, which offers a powerful framework for understanding how the brain, mind, and interpersonal dynamics interact to shape wellbeing and support healthy, resilient relationships.
