Circle of Security – Parenting Program

Circle of Security – Parenting Programparenting program adelaide

At times, all parents or caregivers feel lost or without a clue about what our child might need from us. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your child is really asking from you. This is where the Circle of Security® Parenting™ program comes in.

What is the Program About?

The Circle of Security® Parenting™ program was developed based on decades of research into how to help parents and children thrive. This research has confirmed that children who have ‘secure attachment’ (that is, children that have close relationships with their parents or caregivers) show increased empathy, greater self-esteem, better relationships with parents and peers, enhanced school readiness, and an increased capacity to handle emotions when compared with children who are not secure.

For more information about the program, view the following video which introduces the Circle of Security:

Who is the Circle of Security for?

Any parent or caregiver that would like to have answers to any of the following questions:

  • What does my child’s behaviour mean?
  • How can I help my child to organise their sad/angry/scared feelings?
  • How do I help my child feel better in their relationships?
  • How do I help my child to engage more in play and learning?
  • Why do I struggle in my role as a parent when times are tough?
  • How do I support my child in managing difficult behaviours: tantrums, attention seeking, clinginess?
  • What can I do when my relationship has broken down with the child?
  • How do I help my child to grow into the adult I want them to be?

Learning Objectives of the Program:

  • Understand your child’s emotional world by learning to read their emotional needs
  • Support your child’s ability to successfully manage emotions
  • Enhance the development of your child’s self-esteem
  • Honour your innate wisdom and desire for your child to be secure

Circle of Security at Rose Park

Clinical psychologist Kate Hollitt offers this dynamic program in individual sessions for parents/caregivers who prefer the privacy of a one-on-one approach instead of the traditional group format. Doing this program in private sessions with Kate, as opposed to attending at a group, means that: confidentiality is assured; the needs of the individual parents and developmental needs of the children in the family can be taken into account; and the parenting couple can be sure they are united in their approach to parenting.

These sessions are available for any couple, carer giver or adult involved in parenting a child or children.

Appointments are 90 minutes in length, and the whole program runs for 8 sessions. Appointments are available on Thursdays.

If you would like more information, or to book in for the Circle of Security® Parenting™ program, please contact us and one of our friendly receptionists will be happy to help you.
