Dr Remy McCubbin

Dr Remy McCubbin approaches his work with an analytical mind and a sence of humour. Hs a Doctor of Clinical Psychology, having graduated from the University of Manchester (England) in 1998. Prior to this, he obtained a Master’s degree in Psychology from Nottingham University (England).

In the UK, he worked as a Senior Clinical Psychologist (Highly Specialised, Grade 8b) in the National Health Service, and was lead clinician for the development of personality disorder services in South Manchester. The majority of his experience has been in a community mental health setting. He has been actively involved in research, is a published author, and has taught on the University of Manchester, Doctor of Clinical Psychology course.

Since coming to live in Adelaide in 2006, he has worked as a clinical psychologist for Central North Adelaide Health Service, in a post which included services to the Eastern Assessment and Crisis Intervention Service, the (Eastern) Regional Psychology Clinic and the Community Mental Team based at Felixstow.

He provides specialised clinical psychology services using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for clients with problems ranging from mild depression and anxiety to those with severe and enduring mental health problems. He has a special interest in Social Phobia, and also sees couples for relationship counselling and sexual difficulties.

Dr McCubbin has additional experience of inter-personal and brief psychodynamic approaches to therapy, which has led to an appreciation of the importance of maintaining a strong treatment alliance with his clients. He endorses a collaborative approach to therapy and pays close attention to his clients’ beliefs regarding the origins, maintenance and treatment of their difficulties.

He is committed to the continued appraisal and refinement of his clinical work, through supervision and attendance for further professional development.
