Rachael Elliott
Rachael Elliott is a qualified psychologist with a Masters degree and seven years experience based in a community centre, working in Drug and Alcohol Services for the Northern Sydney and Central Coast Area Health Service. She worked with individuals of various ages, as well as families, to address substance abuse and other mental health problems. During this period she ran youth focused groups, controlled drinking and tobacco cessation programs.
Prior to this she worked as a sessional counsellor for Relationships Australia in Perth and later for an organisation called Unifam in Parramatta . This work involved counselling with couples, children and adults to address issues related to family breakdown, work-related conflict, mental health, behavioural problems and domestic violence.
Rachael's approach to her field of work encourages openness and honesty in addressing the often complex nature of the issues presented. She strives to achieve successful outcomes by utilising a range of therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavioural, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, psychodynamic, behavioural and attachment-based theory.
Rachael is very motivated to explore and develop competencies in evidence-based approaches by attending ongoing professional development activities and maintaining awareness of current trends in treatment approaches.
